Antonio Aricò is one of the best young designers around these days and, more importantly, he is a good friend. One day, Antonio talked to us about a book in which he wanted to collect all of his work. He really loves our style and he wanted us to create his first catalogue.
After a memorable chat on Skype and thousands of text messages, we came up with this simple, clean and conceptual booklet. Most of all, we tried to focus on “Antonio’s way of thinking” when he designs. His projects are original and out-of-the-box, and the process he uses is definitely as simple as a child looking around with new, surprised eyes.
This simplicity is shown through the use of basic, imprecise shapes coloured with faded primary colours that alternate with or overlap product images. Pages are primarily kept white and clear, showing the products suspended in space; sometimes they are shown interacting with other elements.
The catalogue is 16 pages long and has a really nice size (170cmx240cm), one that allowed us to work with grids and space in a very creative way. All booklets are hand-numbered, to emphasise their exclusivity.
